Bringing together forty-two works, the exhibition retraces the human and artistic encounter of three leading figures of Italian Abstract Art of the Post-war period, united by shared poetic affinities, common cultural circles and personal relationships. Tancredi Parmeggiani, Gino Morandis and Riccardo Licata shared the experimental drive of Spatialism, which developed around Lucio Fontana, interpreting its principles through independent paths and highly distinctive visual languages.
The exhibition focuses on space as a field of research, and on light and colour as expressive tools, reconstructing a network of relationships and visions extending between Venice and Paris, studios, Biennials and places of international exchange. The display also includes episodes of particular significance, such as the rare portrait of Riccardo Licata painted by Tancredi, offering direct testimony of a bond of friendship and artistic dialogue.
Installed in a space of the MANN that traditionally marks the beginning of the visitor’s route, the exhibition becomes an occasion for dialogue between different languages and periods, in keeping with the Museum’s vocation to foster encounters between modern art and ancient collections.
Curated by Giordano Bruno Guerri and Giovanni Granzotto, with contributions by Stefano Cecchetto and Dino Marangon, the exhibition is organised by Il Cigno Arte di Lorenzo Zichichi in collaboration with Studio GR.
The exhibition catalogue is published by Il Cigno Arte.
