Yesterday there were more than 700 readers at the MANN, the Hall of the Farnese Bull, where Erri De Luca presented his new book “The Exhibited Nature”, was really crowded. There was Mayor Luigi de Magistris, who defines the writer as “a great intellectual of this town”, underlining his appreciation of the author during the defense of freedom even on the occasion of the trial.
In the front rows there were also Mr Mimmo Jodice and Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, who stated: “Let’s propose Erri De Luca for the Nobel Prize for literature. Christ was born naked and died naked. You have contributed in an extraordinary way, you have been my teacher, I will take your remarks as a starting point for my homelies”.
Erri De Luca answered the questions of the audience about the problem of the South of Italy: “There is a national problem and it is corruption. And the authorities of Naples are the only ones who oppose corruption tenaciously”.
“Erri for the MANN” (Libreria Dante & Descartes) was presented within the OBVIA project, planned and curated by Mrs Daniela Savy. “Liber amicorum” describes the close relationship between the Neapolitan writer and the MANN as “a necessary museum”.
Once more the Director of the Museum Paolo Giulierini carried out an operation of a high cultural level combining the greatest masters of classical art with a contemporary writer, such as Erri De Luca, giving the town of Naples a moment of cultural and spiritual aggregation.
