Getty Museum in Los Angeles
On May 21st 2016 the National Archeological Museum of Naples and J. Paul Getty Museum signed an important agreement relating to the restoration and the temporary exhibition, at Getty Villa in Malibù, of the very famous “Cratere di Altamura” or “dell’Inferno” kept in the Neapolitan Museum. This important cooperation represents the last project provided for by the cultural collaboration agreement stipulated by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and J. Paul Getty Museum in 2007.
Up to today three important projects of restoration and exhibition, in the rooms of Getty Villa, of famous bronze sculptures of the MANN have already been carried out:
- Efebo from Via dell’Abbondanza and Apollo Saettante from the Temple of Apollo, both coming from Pompeii,
- the colossal statue of Tiberio from Herculaneum.
The restoration works have been carried out by the restorers of Getty Villa in collaboration with the Laboratory of Preservation and Restoration of the MANN.
