Educational Services

The Educational Service comes from the Educational Section founded in the Museum about forty years ago on the initiative of Mrs Rosaria Stazio Pulinas. She gathered around herself collaborators different in education and skills, some of whom are still working in the same Office. With her foundation she intended to satisfy the growing request for cooperation from the school world. At first this collaboration was accomplished through the direct relation with students, then mainly through teachers as irreplaceable intermediaries between students and Museum. After entering into partnership with private associations that have taken charge of organizing educational visits and workshops at museums and monumental areas, the Educational Service, besides interacting with them especially for the offer programming, has continued organizing educational exhibitions, planning workshop activities, preparing thematic itineraries and working out particularly demanding educational visits in a close contact with teachers.

Since the first years the Educational Service has proposed activities directed to increase the cultural offer of the Museum and to meet the public’s requirements, creating new occasions and introducing new initiatives into the life of the Museum.

The first series of lectures “Incontri di Archeologia” dates back to 1994.They are considered to be a container not only of the proposals of the Educational Service but also of the all initiatives addressed to the public by the Museum. They represent a program by means of which people can know the opening of new permanent sections and temporary exhibitions, offers to the so-called “special public”, concerts, reading, projections, plays, performances of ballet,  presentation of publications and many other different activities organized by the staff of the MANN. The Educational Service provides for the widest spread of the lectures “Incontri” through different means of communication.

Further tasks of the Office consist in writing texts, drawing up itineraries, working out communication projects and organizing – beginning from 1994 – contemporary art exhibitions characterized by specific connections with the Museum or its collections and with places, history, culture or art of the past.

Since many years the planning and carrying out of the initiatives of the Educational Service have also become real educational opportunities for university students engaged in the activity of training at the Office.

The Educational Service is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
